A new on demand public transport service will be launched as of June 2019 in Île-de-France to cover the suburbs of the Paris region. The service is called Flexigo and has the purpose to complement existing regular lines and better connect suburban and hard-to-reach areas. Flexigo is a minibus with around ten seats that can be booked by users via a mobile application, exactly like the American Uber application. "It will be a direct competitor of Uber in the Grand Couronne", Laurent Probst, the CEO of Ile-de-France Mobilités (ex-STIF), said. The service has predefined stops but adjusts its route and schedule according to the demand. It requires pre-booking one hour before the desired departure (max 30 days in advance) and asks passengers to arrive five mins before scheduled departure at the stop. The app and the buses are operated by Transdev.
